Frequently Asked Questions

What types of services do you provide?

I offer individual therapy for adults and adolescents. While it is sometimes helpful to include other family members in treatment, I do not currently provide ongoing family or couples counseling services.

Although I work with clients on a wide range of issues, I specialize in working with people who are survivors of interpersonal trauma, such as childhood abuse and neglect, intimate partner violence, and sexual abuse and assault. Learn more about how I help clients heal from trauma in therapy.

I also provide a safe, sex-positive therapeutic space for people who have issues or concerns regarding sexuality or their sexual identity, or are part of marginalized sexual communitiesLearn more about sex-positive therapy and how it could help you.

How does it work? How long will it take?

Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, the course of treatment will be different for each individual. I adjust my therapeutic approach according to your specific needs. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time counseling can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on a number of factors. Learn more about my approach to therapy here.

How do I get started?

Before scheduling an intake appointment, I will do a free initial phone consultation that will last 15-20 minutes. During this conversation, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and determine whether I can offer you the services that you need.

After the phone consultation, if we decide to work together, we will schedule your first appointment. You will be sent a link to an online client portal where you can access and complete all intake paperwork online prior to our first appointment. During the initial intake session, I will ask you questions about what brings you to therapy, and I will learn more about your history. We will take the time to get to know each other better, and I will answer any questions that you may have about the experience.

How much will it cost?

My standard session fee is $170 per therapy hour (50-minute session). Extended sessions are available for an additional fee.

I believe that access to quality mental health care is a right, not a privilege. I reserve several spaces in my private practice for reduced fee therapy appointments, for those who are unable to afford my standard fee.

Upon request, I can provide you with a Good Faith Estimate of fees.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not participate in-network with any insurance panels. Many insurance companies give out-of-network reimbursements for mental health services. To find out about your reimbursement options, I encourage you to call your insurance company and ask what costs they cover for an out of network mental health provider. I am happy to provide you with a monthly superbill (itemized statement of services paid for) that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
